No-exam life insurance
Qualifications for streamlined underwriting and its mechanics, plus what occurs when you don't qualify.
Many insurers now provide expedited underwriting: for candidates meeting particular conditions regarding age and amount, they make choices based on application records, pharmaceutical background, driving records plus other information, bypassing paramedical exams. Occasionally resolution happens immediately. Every quote displayed shows whether an exam requirement applies, may be required, or is unnecessary.
What it changes
Avoiding the exam doesn't eliminate underwriting. The insurer will corroborate your statements, and misstatements on applications can enable the insurer to contest policies during the initial 24 months. If the insurer's checks indicate problems, they may still demand an exam or blood tests; you're free to stop if you wish.
Who tends to qualify
Typically those aged under approximately 60 buying amounts below the carrier's rapid approval limit, lacking significant past health problems, and having avoided tobacco for a year or longer. A recent full doctor's visit with bloodwork can substitute for a new exam with some carriers.
An exam, if required, typically involves a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a medical examiner, either at your residence or workplace within the Coachella area, with no fees charged. Exams often benefit qualified applicants by improving their rate, making them not necessarily a disadvantage.
