Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give my name or contact details to see quotes?

No. The quote tool asks only for your gender, date of birth, how you would describe your health, tobacco use, the coverage amount you want, and the term length. Those six pieces of information are enough for the carriers to return rates. Your name, address, phone number and other details are only needed if you choose to complete an application.

Are the monthly prices shown the price I will pay?

The prices shown reflect what each carrier quotes for the health rating you selected on the form. The final premium is determined by the carrier after they review your full application and medical history during underwriting, which may result in a better rate, a worse rate, or confirmation of the quoted class. Nothing on this site constitutes an offer of insurance or a guarantee of any particular price.

What happens when I click Apply?

When you select a carrier and click Apply, you move into a secure online application that is pre-populated with the answers you provided. The application is managed by the carriers' platform and handled by Susman Insurance Agency, a licensed California insurance agency. You can save your progress and return to finish later, and everything is signed electronically. You are under no obligation until a carrier issues a policy and you accept it.

Will I need a medical exam?

It depends on the carrier, the amount of coverage, and your health profile. Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting programs that make a decision based on your application and other data without requiring a paramedical exam. The quote results for each carrier will show whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not needed for that specific product.

Is a longer term better?

Choose a term that covers the years when your family would most need your income. A 20-year term protects through a mortgage and children's education; a 30-year term provides longer protection at a higher monthly cost. The quote tool lets you compare 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year options side-by-side for every carrier so you can see what the timing choice means for your budget.

Does this site sell my information?

No. The quote tool does not collect your name or contact information, we do not sell or share visitor data, and our analytics system does not use cookies. See the privacy page for complete details on what information is collected and how it is used.
